HOLLYWOOD WOMEN'S FILM FESTIVAL 2020 Submission Categories

U.S. Narrative Feature Films

Narrative Feature Film, the submitted film must be scripted, be between 50 and 125 minutes long and at least half of the project's financing must originate from within the United States.


  • Early Bird Deadline – $30
  • Regular Deadline – $40
  • Late Deadline – $50
  • Extended Deadline – $65


U.S. Documentary Feature Films

To qualify as a U.S. Documentary Feature Film, the project must be non-scripted, between 50 and 90 minutes long and at least half of the submitted film's financing must originate from within the United States.


  • Early Bird Deadline – $30
  • Regular Deadline – $40
  • Late Deadline – $50
  • Extended Deadline – $65

International Narrative Feature Films

Narrative scripted work of fiction originating outside of the United States with a running time between 50 and 125 minutes. To qualify as an International Narrative Feature Film, the submitted film must be scripted  and more than half of the film's financing must originate from outside of the United States.

International Documentary Feature Films

Any nonfiction non-scripted film originating from outside of the United States with a running time between 50 and 90 minutes. To qualify as an International Documentary Feature Film more than half of the film's financing must originate from outside of the United States.

  • Late Deadline – $50
  • Extended Deadline – $65

International Narrative Short Films

Any narrative scripted work of fiction of any genre originating from outside of the United States with a running time of less than 50 minutes, including credits. In order to qualify as an International Short Film, at least half of the submitted film's financing must originate from outside of the United States.

U.S. Narrative Short Films

Any narrative scripted work of fiction of any genre originating from within the United States with a running time of less than 50 minutes, To qualify as a U.S. Short Film, at least half of the submitted project's financing must originate from within the United States

HOLLYWOOD WOMEN'S FILM FESTIVAL 2020 SUBMISSION CATEGORIES

Episodic Content: Web & TV Series and Audio-Visual Podcasts

Narrative scripted or non-scripted work of fiction or nonfiction series of any genre, originating from anywhere in the world, presented in a multi-episode format. 


Applicants may submit single or multiple episodes of a single project, as long as all episodes play continuously in one single video file for digital upload and do not exceed 60 minutes total running time.

U.S. Documentary Short Films

To qualify as a U.S. Documentary Short Film, the project must be non-scripted and up to 45 minutes long and at least half of the submitted film's financing must originate from within the United States.

International Documentary Short Films

Music Videos

Music Videos may be from anywhere in the world, scripted or live performance and must run under 7 minutes long.

U.S. Student Documentary Feature Films

US Student Documentary Feature Films must be non-scripted, part of a U.S. school affiliated student project and be between 50 and 90 minutes in length.

Spoken Word Social Justice Video

Must be your original poem or prose and must be under 11 minutes long. The content must relate to the social justice issues of our times.

Youth Program Emerging Filmmaker Award

Scripted narrative content under 75 minutes long. Our youth program award is for young filmmakers between 18 and 25 years-old. You do not have to be a student for this category.

U.S. TV Pilot Program

Scripted content. Pilot for Television. Between 30 and 60 minutes long.

Scripted narrative content. RT under 46 minutes. You must be attending school within the U.S..
